Title: Call Me Al Fandom: Deadwood Song: "You Can Call Me Al" by Paul Simon [lyrics] Genre: Slash, Character Study Pairing: Al/Dan Length: About 2.5 minutes Additional Notes: Footage is taken from the first two seasons of the show excluding the episode 'E.B. Was Left Out' because for some reason every time I tried to rip & convert it, the file would corrupt. Also, Dan and Al are COMPLETELY gay for each other.
From there you can download the video and/or go watch it on the YouTube.
Well, there's lot of different ways of making song videos, there's tons and tons of tutorials talked about on communities like vidding -- for different platforms of computers, different programs to rip the footage with and different ones to edit with. I use an iMac G5, I rip the footage from the DVD with a program called Handbrake, convert the footage to DV with QuickTime Pro, and edit the video in Final Cut Pro which lets you remove the sound from the video footage and put on the music instead and then you can cut the music up too (it's not obvious unless you know the song really well but I cut a huge chunk out of the middle of the song).
But Final Cut Pro isn't what you'd want to use when just starting making videos I think. I first started on this old computer back in '98 running a consumer level version of Avid software and I used that for over 5 years before moving to Final Cut Express and then to Final Cut Pro (pirated copies all around). There are a lot of good programs out there cuz a lot of people use them. Like I think Window Movie Maker is what a lot of folks with Windows use and a lot of Mac users use iMovie.
This was great! I love how the kicky, perky song somehow fit these two dark and dangerous guys perfectly. Vidding is a total mystery to me, so I'm always in awe of people who can do it this well! Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked it! Yeah, as soon as I made the connection between the song and Al I just knew I had to make this video. I started off planning it as a kind of general Deadwood video but it made more sense as an Al/Dan video :)
